LAND UTILIZATION AND FARM ACTIVITIES

The total land area is 198.22Ha of which 108.72Ha is under mature coffee bushes with an expansion programme currently underway to cover a total of 160Ha. The remaining area is currently being planted with a variety of trees as Ecological Compensation Zones.

The estate has an underground irrigation network from the Chania River covering the entire plantation. The estate is primarily a coffee growing unit. There are dairy cows for domestic use and the farm staff.

The two coffee varieties grown at Kirimara Estate are SL28 and Ruiru 11 which is approximately 90% and 10% respectively.
The estate is predominantly a late producer.

Averages over the last 5 year period have been at 2160Kg/Ha of quality coffees.
